Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Team Teach

Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to teachers in the classroom, assisting with the delivery of lessons and educational activities.
  • Work closely with individual students or small groups, offering additional guidance and support to ensure their learning needs are met.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting good behaviour and fostering a sense of respect and cooperation among students.
  • Assist in the implementation of educational plans and strategies, adapting materials and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Support students with special educational needs or disabilities, following Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and making necessary accommodations.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Supervise students during break times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing classroom materials, organising resources, and maintaining student records.
  • Collaborate with other teaching assistants and school staff, participating in team meetings and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the educational environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Valid Team Teach certification.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.


  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.


  • Prior experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of educational practises and strategies.
  • Familiarity with supporting students with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of classroom management techniques.
  • Proficiency in using educational tools and resources.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher level qualifications in Education or related field.
  • Additional certifications or training in areas such as safeguarding, first aid, or specific learning difficulties.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in a classroom setting within a school environment.
  • Full-time hours, typically following regular school hours.
  • May involve some physical activity and assisting students with mobility.
  • Occasional involvement in extracurricular activities or school events.
