Job Duties

  • Provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in a classroom setting
  • Assist the teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual student needs
  • Help students with their educational and personal development
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Implement strategies to support students with specific learning difficulties or disabilities
  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive social interactions
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide feedback and report on student progress to the teacher
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to student records and documentation
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times

Desired Qualifications

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) qualification


  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent


  • Prior experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar role
  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and inclusive education practises
  • Knowledge of different learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual student needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Good organisational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education degree in Education or related field
  • Additional certifications or training in special educational needs (SEN)

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily indoors within a classroom setting
  • Regular working hours typically follow the school schedule
  • May involve some physical activities, such as assisting students with mobility
  • Collaborative work environment with teachers, students, and other support staff
