SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary & Secondary

Choice Teachers are working with a group of specialist SEN schools across Wembley and North West London who are looking for enthusiastic and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams on a full-time basis.

These SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities involve supporting children and young people across Primary and Secondary age groups with a range of additional and complex needs.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to provide personalised support and help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
  • Support children and young people with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), speech and language needs and other complex needs
  • Assist pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Support differentiated classroom activities and individual learning programmes
  • Help pupils develop their independence and essential life skills
  • Support positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and other SEN professionals
  • Provide personal care where required, depending on the needs of individual pupils

The Trust’s provision includes specialist support for autism, speech and language needs, MLD and SLD, while its all-through school specialises in supporting pupils with complex SEND.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker is desirable
  • Experience supporting children or adults with additional needs is beneficial
  • Comfortable working with pupils who may have complex learning, communication or behavioural needs
  • Patient, resilient and able to build strong relationships with pupils
  • Confident providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Willing to provide personal care where required
  • Available full-time, Monday to Friday

We are also interested in candidates with transferable experience from care, youth work, support work, sports coaching or other child-focused environments.
