Choice Teachers are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newham who are seeking a number of dedicated Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SEN Teaching Assistants, and Classroom Support Assistants to join their team from September 2026.
The school has a number of vacancies available across both mainstream primary classrooms and SEND support roles, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants looking for a long-term position within a supportive school environment.
These opportunities include KS1 Classroom Teaching Assistant roles, 1:1 SEND support positions, and a mixed Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant role across Key Stage 2.
About the Role – Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant
Current opportunities include:
KS1 Classroom Teaching Assistants
- Supporting pupils across Key Stage 1
- Delivering small group interventions
- Leading groups of up to 10 pupils independently with support and training
- Supporting pupil engagement and progress within the classroom
Year 6 Learning Support Assistant
- Supporting three Year 6 pupils
- Providing academic and emotional support
- Building positive relationships and supporting pupil wellbeing
Year 4 SEN Learning Support Assistant
- Supporting a high-needs pupil on a 1:1 basis
- Delivering personalised support strategies
- Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team
Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant Split Role
- 2 days supporting a pupil within Year 3
- 3 days working as a Teaching Assistant within Year 5
- Ideal for candidates who enjoy both classroom support and targeted intervention work
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Classroom Assistant
- Be confident supporting pupils across primary age groups
- Have strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Be able to work independently and use their initiative
- Be patient, adaptable, and nurturing in their approach
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable but not essential
