Exciting Opportunity – SEN Teaching Assistant (Rawtenstall)
Are you a compassionate and adaptable individual looking to make a meaningful impact in SEN education? Choice Teachers is seeking a dedicated full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support a small group of SEN pupils (Years 7-10) in a specialist educational setting in Rawtenstall.
This role is ideal for those with experience in SEN or primary education who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Individualized Support: Assist students in staying engaged and on task during lessons.
Tailor Learning Strategies: Adapt teaching approaches for pupils working below age-related expectations, particularly in reading and handwriting.
Create Engaging Resources: Help develop bespoke learning materials to reinforce core curriculum subjects.
Support a Positive Learning Environment: Manage classroom behavior and encourage structure and engagement.
Work with a Range of Abilities: Support students with varying reading ages, from below six years to over 13 years.
Collaboration & Initiative: Work both independently and alongside SENCO teams and teaching staff to provide effective support.
What We Are Looking For:
✔ Classroom Confidence: Ability to support teachers in managing student behavior and fostering a structured learning environment.
✔ Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to engage with students of all abilities and build positive relationships.
✔ Adaptability & Flexibility: Willingness to support a variety of learning needs and step in at short notice if required.
✔ Experience with SEN or Primary Education: Ideal candidates will have a background in special education or primary teaching.
Requirements:
✅ Ideally educated to A-level or degree level.
✅ Valid DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one currentley priced at £53.50).
✅ Two professional references.
✅ Right to work in the UK.
✅ A good level of spoken and written English.
✅ Local to Rawtenstall or the surrounding areas.
