Job Title: Teacher of MFL (Modern Foreign Languages)
Location: Welling, South East London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent or Long-Term
Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London)


Choice Teachers are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to join a high-achieving secondary school in the Welling area from September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and supportive department that values language learning and cultural diversity. The ability to teach French and/or Spanish to Key Stage 3 and 4 is essential; Key Stage 5 experience is desirable but not required.


Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Deliver a broad and engaging MFL curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 teaching available for suitable candidates).

  • Create an inspiring and inclusive learning environment to help students achieve their full linguistic potential.

  • Monitor, support, and challenge student progress through excellent subject teaching and pastoral support.

  • Contribute to the development of the MFL department’s curriculum, resources, and teaching strategies.

  • Support the wider aims of the school including academic achievement and cultural enrichment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative MFL lessons in line with national curriculum requirements.

  • Use effective assessment techniques to track and support student progress.

  • Participate in departmental planning, meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Promote a love of languages and international awareness.

  • Support the personal development of students as a form tutor.

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement.


The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a degree in a relevant language or linguistics field.

  • Have experience teaching French and/or Spanish at secondary level (KS3 and KS4).

  • Possess strong subject knowledge and a passion for language education.

  • Be confident using modern teaching methods, including ICT and interactive tools.

  • Be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills.

  • Be able to work collaboratively within a team-focused environment.

  • Be committed to promoting high standards and positive outcomes for all students.
