Job Title: Religious Education (RE) Teacher

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract
Start Date: After Easter 2025
Salary: £120 – £250 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Choice Teachers is seeking a dedicated and engaging Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a well-established school in Hemel Hempstead from after Easter 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students, encouraging critical thinking and meaningful discussions about religion, ethics, and philosophy.

As an RE Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping students’ understanding of different worldviews, beliefs, and moral dilemmas, helping them develop respect, empathy, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and engaging RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential Key Stage 5 teaching opportunities).

  • Facilitate thought-provoking discussions on religion, ethics, and cultural diversity.

  • Develop interactive and inclusive lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities.

  • Assess, track, and provide constructive feedback to support student progress.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the RE curriculum and share best practices.

  • Contribute to whole-school activities, including assemblies and extracurricular events.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching Religious Education in a secondary school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for RE.

  • Strong classroom management skills to create a structured and supportive learning environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.

  • Adaptability and creativity in lesson planning and delivery.

  • Passion for Religious Education, ethical debates, and cultural awareness.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Religious Studies.

  • Knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.

  • Additional training or certification in education or RE-related subjects.
