Choice Teachers are working closely with a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead who are seeking dedicated and dynamic Religious Education (RE) Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality RE lessons that engage, inspire, and challenge students to explore a broad spectrum of religious, ethical, and philosophical ideas.
You will be teaching KS3, KS4 and the ability to teach KS5 would be an advantage. *QTS is mandatory*
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Deliver Lessons: Create and teach engaging, differentiated RE lessons that align with the school curriculum and national standards, catering to a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Promote Inclusivity: Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom environment that encourages open discussion of religious, moral, and spiritual matters, while promoting understanding of different faiths and worldviews.
- Assessment: Regularly assess students’ progress through a variety of methods, including formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the RE curriculum, incorporating innovative approaches and ensuring relevance to contemporary issues.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with changes in RE pedagogy, attend relevant training, and contribute to the wider development of the RE department and the school.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must have QTS or equivalent and experience teaching RE in a school setting.
- Subject Expertise: In-depth knowledge of major world religions, ethical philosophies, and contemporary moral issues.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to students of varying ages and abilities.
- Passion for RE: A strong commitment to fostering religious literacy and respect for diversity among students.
- Adaptability and Resilience: Able to handle the challenges of a dynamic classroom environment and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies. All successful applicants will be required to undergo a DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience with GCSE and A-Level RE: Experience in preparing students for GCSE and A-Level RE examinations.
- Innovative Teaching Methods: A creative approach to teaching that integrates technology and other resources to engage students.
- Pastoral Experience: Experience in delivering pastoral care and supporting students’ social and emotional development.
- Cross-Curricular Collaboration: Ability to work with colleagues from different departments to deliver a well-rounded educational experience.
To be considered you must have:
- DBS Certificate on the update service or be able to apply for one
- Two professional references
- Right to work in the UK.
