Choice Teachers are recruiting for a Qualified SEND Teacher for one of our clients based in Luton. The school creates a special place of learning to enable pupil voice, curiosity, independence and happiness for today and tomorrow. It is a maintained Luton community special school educating children in EYFS, KS1&2. The school has recently expanded and is now based in 2 sites. The new school is under construction and will be open within the next 6 months. The expansion is a local authority response to the growing numbers of children with SEND requiring special school places locally.
All children attending the school have severe or profound learning difficulties. Additional pupil needs can include physical, sensory and communication impairment, autistic spectrum disorder and/or complex medical needs. Pupils are either under assessment for or have an ECHP.
Job Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Collaborate with other professionals, parents, and carers to support student progress
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Education or related field
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
Education and Experience:
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of SEN teaching methods and strategies
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic and flexible approach to teaching
- Punctual and reliable with a passion for supporting student learning
- Ability to use initiative and be inspirational in the classroom
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional training in specific areas of SEN (e.g. autism, speech and language disorders)
- Experience working in a special school setting
