College Maths Lecturer

Choice Teachers are seeking a committed and innovative Functional Skills Maths Lecturer to deliver engaging and accessible maths instruction to students. This role focuses on helping individuals develop practical mathematical skills that are applicable to everyday life and work settings. This role is Full time, and permenant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths courses.
• Support students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring lessons are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs.
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to help students achieve their learning goals.
• Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including digital tools, to create interactive and effective learning experiences.
• Assist learners in overcoming barriers to their learning, whether personal, educational, or emotional.
• Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments, ensuring they are confident and equipped to succeed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and improve teaching practices.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance, and provide reports as required.

Desired Qualifications:

• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g PGCE, QTS, QTLS) However is not necessary.
• Experience in teaching Functional Skills Maths, particularly to adults or learners with diverse needs.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of learners at varying levels.
• Passion for supporting and empowering learners to develop essential life skills.

Skills:

• Experience in using digital platforms and technology in the classroom.
• Experience working with learners who have barriers to learning, such as low confidence, learning difficulties, or other challenges.
• Knowledge of current Functional Skills Maths curriculum and assessment methods.

(Full clean driving lisence is preferred)

Knowledge:

• Excellent communication skills
• Enthusiastic about teaching and inspiring students
• Flexible and able to adapt teaching methods to meet student needs
• Punctual and reliable
• Demonstrates initiative and passion for mathematics education

To be considered you must:

• DBS Certificate on the update service or be able to apply for one
• Two professional references
• Right to work in the UK.
