My SEN College are currently looking for a HLTA to start on 20/01.

As a HLTA, your day will be varied, you will be doing a mix of teaching and teaching assistant work.

The school need a highly experienced specialist HLTA to work offsite with a member of staff and a 16-year old student with complex autism, sensory and communication challenges. They have local provisions including sensory rooms, immersive spaces and classrooms with an outdoor area. 

The HLTA would be required to lead the sessions offsite and resource activities to support the student’s learning.

The hours are normal school hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group & 1:1 support to students with SEN.
  • Holistic approach that starts by building strong, honest, transparent and trusting relationships with pupils in order to combat the difficulties they face that include social & emotional needs.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans, tailored to individual students’ requirements.
  • You will demonstrate a calm nature to guide the students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEN.
  • A L4 Teaching Assistant Qualification or working towards a PGCE
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable learners
  • Candidates with a background as a Police Officer, Prison Officer, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Residential Support Worker, Mental Health practitioner or Youth Worker will be considered
