We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages with a strong background in Spanish to join our dynamic team at A Secondary school in Norbury.

As the Head of MFL, you will lead our dedicated MFL department, inspiring both staff and students to achieve excellence in Spanish language learning. You will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative teaching strategies, fostering a positive learning environment, and promoting a love for language and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of MFL teachers to deliver high-quality Spanish language education.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging MFL curriculum, aligned with national standards and the school’s vision.
  • Monitor student progress and attainment in Spanish, implementing intervention strategies where necessary to ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote cross-curricular opportunities and enhance the overall student experience.
  • Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, cultural events, and educational trips, to enrich students’ language learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and relevant postgraduate qualification in MFL or Spanish.
  • Proven experience teaching Spanish at secondary level, with a track record of achieving excellent results.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external partners.
  • A passion for languages and a commitment to promoting language learning and cultural understanding within the school community.
