Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join the vibrant team at a school in Bedford. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food education and committed to inspiring students to develop their culinary skills and understanding of nutrition and food science. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and comprehensive food technology lessons in line with the curriculum.
  • Foster a stimulating and safe learning environment that encourages student creativity and experimentation.
  • Assess and evaluate students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Organise and oversee practical cooking sessions, ensuring all health and safety regulations are met.
  • Develop and maintain resources and materials to support the curriculum.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including cooking clubs and school events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate food technology education across other subjects and projects.
  • Stay updated with current trends and developments in food technology and education.


  • A degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Previous teaching experience in food technology or a related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, food science, and culinary skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students with varying levels of ability and interest.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic learning environment.


  • Experience with special dietary needs and food allergies.
  • Familiarity with sustainable food practices.
