English Teacher – Media Studies Experience
Location: Finsbury Park, North London

Salary: £170 – £300 per day

Contract Length: Until at least the end of March 2027
Choice Teachers are currently working with a creative secondary school in North London who are seeking a confident and experienced English Teacher with Media Studies experience to join them on a full-time, long-term basis from October 2026.
The position is expected to run until at least the end of March 2027, with the possibility of continuing beyond this depending on the school’s requirements.
The successful English Teacher will need to be confident teaching English across the secondary age range and have previous experience teaching or supporting Media Studies. The school places a strong emphasis on the arts, creativity and media, making this an excellent opportunity for an English and Media Teacher who enjoys working within a creative school environment.
Very strong classroom and behaviour management is essential for this position.
About the English Teacher Role
- Full-time English Teacher position
- Long-term supply role from October 2026
- Contract running until at least the end of March 2027
- Teach engaging English Language and Literature lessons
- Deliver lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Support the delivery of Media Studies where required
- Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the curriculum
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
- Manage challenging classroom situations confidently and consistently
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively with the wider English and Media departments
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have strong experience teaching English at secondary level
- Have experience teaching Media Studies or a strong background within Media education
- Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be confident taking responsibility for classes independently
- Be able to establish clear boundaries and maintain a productive learning environment
- Have strong knowledge of the English curriculum
- Be organised, reliable and committed to a long-term placement
- Hold QTS ideally, although QTS is not essential
- Experienced unqualified teachers with strong secondary English teaching experience may also be considered
- Be confident working within a creative and diverse secondary school environment
