Long-Term English Teacher – Hertford
We are currently seeking a passionate English Teacher to join our partner school in Hertford for a long-term role starting in September 2025. If you are dedicated to inspiring students through literature and language, we want to hear from you!
The Role:

Position: English Teacher (KS3 & KS4, with potential KS5)

Location: Hertford

Start Date: September 2024

Contract: Long-term, full-time

Teaching Focus: You will be responsible for delivering English across KS3 and KS4 (ages 11-16), covering key topics in English literature and language, with the potential for KS5 teaching for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature

Teach GCSE English courses, preparing students for exams with high-quality resources and effective revision techniques

Develop students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills
-
Assess, track, and report on student progress
-
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
-
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the English department and support students’ wider development
Requirements:
-
Preferably QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
-
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature
-
Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
-
Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 English
-
A passion for encouraging students to appreciate the value of literature and language

Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire students through innovative teaching
