Long-Term English Teacher – Hertford

We are currently seeking a passionate English Teacher to join our partner school in Hertford for a long-term role starting in September 2025. If you are dedicated to inspiring students through literature and language, we want to hear from you!

The Role:

  • Position: English Teacher (KS3 & KS4, with potential KS5)

  • Location: Hertford

  • Start Date: September 2024

  • Contract: Long-term, full-time

  • Teaching Focus: You will be responsible for delivering English across KS3 and KS4 (ages 11-16), covering key topics in English literature and language, with the potential for KS5 teaching for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature

  • Teach GCSE English courses, preparing students for exams with high-quality resources and effective revision techniques

  • Develop students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills

  • Assess, track, and report on student progress

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the English department and support students’ wider development

Requirements:

  • Preferably QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature

  • Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)

  • Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 English

  • A passion for encouraging students to appreciate the value of literature and language

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire students through innovative teaching
