Choice Teachers is working with a successful secondary school in North London to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher with expertise in Cooking and Nutrition. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and ambitious department that values creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.

About the Role:

  • Teaching Design & Technology with a focus on Cooking and Nutrition across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially A-Level.

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that promote creativity, sustainability, and practical skills.

  • Ensuring appropriate health and safety measures are in place when working with machinery and equipment.

  • Developing schemes of work and lesson plans that meet both internal and external standards.

  • Supporting the development of the Design & Technology curriculum, including planning trips, promoting recycling, and teaching the importance of sustainability.

  • Monitoring and assessing students’ progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing improvement strategies.

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour, punctuality, and work ethic within the classroom.

  • Working collaboratively with the Head of Department and DT Technician to ensure effective use of resources and machinery.

  • Taking part in extracurricular activities, clubs, and initiatives to enhance students’ learning experience.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Design & Technology, Food Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching Cooking and Nutrition at secondary school level.

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards within a workshop environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for developing young people’s skills and creativity.

  • Ability to plan, deliver and assess lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning needs.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Commitment to promoting high standards of learning and achievement.
