Job Title: Curriculum Lead for Geography

Location: Chesham Buckinghamshire

Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Salary: £150 – £250 Per day (Main and Upper pay Scale, Fringe, plus TLR)

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for the Geography department
  • Lead and manage a team of Geography teachers, providing guidance and support
  • Create engaging lesson plans and teaching materials that align with the national curriculum
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support for improvement
  • Organise and oversee field trips and educational visits to enhance students’ understanding of Geography
  • Collaborate with other curriculum leads and senior staff to ensure effective cross-curricular integration
  • Stay up-to-date with educational trends and best practises in Geography teaching
  • Organise and participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and achievements
  • Contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school’s Geography department

Desired Qualifications:

  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)


Bachelor’s degree in Geography or a related field


Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching Geography at the secondary school level

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Punctuality and strong time management abilities
  • Confidence in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Thorough understanding of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for Geography
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of teachers
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in IT and educational software related to Geography teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Geography or Education
  • Additional certifications or training in curriculum development or educational leadership

Working Conditions:

The Curriculum Lead for Geography will primarily work in a secondary school environment. The role involves regular interaction with students, teachers, and parents. The individual may need to participate in field trips and attend occasional evening meetings or events. The work schedule follows standard school hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional additional hours required for planning and preparation.
