Job Title: Behaviour Support Officer

Choice Teachers is working with a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in North West London to appoint a Behaviour Support Officer to start as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to support students in a school that places a strong emphasis on wellbeing, respect, and ambition.

About the Role:
The Behaviour Support Officer will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of student conduct, supporting the implementation of the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of student behaviour systems. You will work closely with senior staff, Heads of Year, and pastoral teams to ensure students are supported both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the calm and purposeful movement of students around the site

  • Monitoring behaviour and uniform standards at entry points and throughout the day

  • Managing and overseeing detentions and internal exclusion provision

  • Delivering structured sessions for students in the supervision room

  • Informally mentoring students, particularly those on behaviour or pastoral support plans

  • Liaising with parents, carers and school staff to support student reintegration

  • Logging and tracking student behaviour, punctuality and attendance

  • Administering behaviour-related interventions and ensuring appropriate follow-up

  • Maintaining accurate behaviour records and supporting administrative systems

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above

  • Experience working in a secondary school or similar setting

  • Proven ability to manage and respond to challenging behaviour

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management strategies and support systems

  • Confidence in working both independently and as part of a wider team

  • Experience supervising students in structured or informal settings

  • A calm, professional and resilient approach to supporting young people

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
