Assistant Head Teacher – Bedford

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000

Job Description

Bedford school is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Head Teacher to join the leadership team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the school, driving academic excellence, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Teacher in the overall management and leadership of the school.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan.
  • Lead on key areas such as curriculum development, teaching and learning, and student achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, providing guidance and support to staff to ensure high standards.
  • Foster a positive school culture that promotes inclusivity, respect, and high expectations for all students.
  • Oversee pastoral care and ensure the well-being of all students.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community to build strong relationships and promote the school’s vision and values.
  • Assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head Teacher.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of leadership and management within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of current educational policies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support staff and students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and school improvement.

Desirable

  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with data-driven school improvement strategies.
  • Strong background in pastoral care and student well-being.
