Job Duties:

  • Deliver engaging art lessons to students, ensuring the curriculum is covered effectively
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression
  • Plan and prepare lesson materials, including art supplies and visual aids
  • Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Encourage students to develop their artistic skills and explore different mediums
  • Organise and supervise art exhibitions or showcases to display students’ work
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to coordinate interdisciplinary projects
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences
  • Ensure a safe and clean art studio environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Education and Experience:

A degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in art or a related subject is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of art history, techniques, and various art forms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in using art supplies and tools
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and assessment procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A relevant master’s degree
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Additional certifications or training in specific art disciplines

Working Conditions:

The Art Teacher will work in a school setting, primarily in an art studio or classroom. The role involves standing, bending, and lifting when setting up art materials. The teacher will follow the school’s schedule and academic calendar, which may include some evening or weekend activities such as exhibitions or parent-teacher conferences.
