SEND Co-ordinator
We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified teacher to take on the role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) at a vibrant and inclusive academy. Role Overview
As SENCO, you will play a key role in ensuring that the academy’s practice aligns with the SEND Code of Practice and other statutory requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the SEND provision across the academy, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
- Working closely with the Academy Leadership Team to promote a culture of inclusion and high expectations for students with SEND.
- Overseeing the accurate identification and assessment of SEND needs and ensuring the appropriate provision is in place.
- Promoting and embedding Quality First Teaching (QFT) and differentiation within your own teaching practice and across the academy.
- Developing and implementing targeted interventions to support students with SEND, ensuring they make measurable progress.
- Providing professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills in supporting SEND students.
- Tracking and monitoring the progress of SEND students, using data to identify barriers to learning and implement strategies for improvement.
- Leading on the deployment of staff and resources to meet the needs of SEND students.
- Reporting regularly to the Governing Body on the progress and developments of SEND provision within the academy.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Have experience in a secondary school setting, with a strong understanding of SEND provision and strategies.
- Have evidence of Continuing Professional Development relevant to the SENCO role, or a willingness to pursue further training.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of national priorities and the ability to implement innovative, needs-based curricula for students with SEND.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of quality assurance processes and the ability to use data effectively to track student progress.
- Have experience in teaching and pastoral support, with a proven ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Be skilled in working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including governors, parents, and external agencies, to support students’ needs.
