SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
Location: Erith, South East London
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience

Choice Teachers are working with a well-regarded all-through academy in Erith to recruit a dedicated and experienced SENCo. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for inclusion and specialist knowledge in SEN provision to lead and develop the school’s SEND strategy.

The Role: SENCo

As SENCo, you will take the lead in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring that their learning is tailored, accessible, and aspirational. You will also guide and train staff, promote best practice in the classroom, and drive the SEND provision across the academy in line with statutory expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the school remains compliant with the SEND Code of Practice (2014)

  • Lead the implementation of the academy’s SEND policy and ensure consistency across departments

  • Manage and maintain the SEND register, ensuring accurate identification and assessment of students

  • Coordinate and quality assure interventions and targeted support

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Quality First Teaching and embed it across the academy

  • Use student data (attainment, behaviour, attendance, etc.) to identify barriers to learning and track progress

  • Deliver training and guidance to staff to improve inclusive practice and differentiation

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to promote a culture of high aspirations for students with SEND

  • Write reports and provide updates for the governing body and external stakeholders

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting students with SEND in a school setting

  • Knowledge of current SEND legislation and inclusive classroom strategies

  • Strong organisational skills and a detail-oriented approach to SEND provision

  • Experience delivering staff training and supporting colleagues

  • Ability to analyse school data to inform and improve outcomes for SEND students

  • Experience working collaboratively with families, staff, and outside agencies

  • Calm, empathetic, and proactive in approach

  • Willingness to undertake or currently completing SENCo training
