Exciting Teaching Opportunity – SEN Teacher

Are you a passionate and adaptable educator looking to make a meaningful impact in the classroom? Choice Teachers is seeking a dedicated full-time teacher to work with a small group of SEN pupils in a mixed-year class (Years 7-10) in the North West. If you have a background in SEN or primary education and a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs, we would love to hear from you!

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to learners, ensuring they stay engaged and on task.

  • Confidently manage a classroom setting and foster a structured, positive learning environment.

  • Plan and create bespoke learning resources that support core curriculum subjects.

  • Adapt teaching strategies to support students working well below their chronological age in key skills such as reading and handwriting.

  • Engage students of varying abilities, managing a broad range of needs—including pupils with a reading age below six to those exceeding 13.

  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative in meeting individual learning needs.

  • Work independently while also collaborating with SENCO teams and support staff.

What We Are Looking For

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualities:

  • Confidence in managing a classroom and ensuring a structured learning environment.

  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive atmosphere.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students of varying abilities.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the flexibility to work at short notice if required.

  • The ability to manage large groups, including students who may exhibit challenging behaviour.

  • Ideally, an SEN or primary-trained background to support diverse learning needs effectively.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Ideally educated to A-level or degree level.

  • Hold a valid DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

  • Provide two professional references.

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.

  • Possess a good level of spoken English.

  • Be local to the North West or surrounding areas.
