Choice Teachers are a well-established Education agency that have been working closely with schools across the North-west for more than 15 years, we are currently working with a secondary school in Rochdale that require a passionate Science Technician on a temporary this role could also accommodate someone looking for temporary supply work, until the right candidate can fill the position. This role is due to start in September.
The role of a Science Technician is diverse and challenging but also very rewarding. As a Technician in a secondary school you will be a part of the schools Science Department, this role plays a vital part in enriching and supporting practical teaching lessons and co-curricular offerings. The Technician will work alongside staff, pupils and their fellow science technicians in order to support practical work in the thriving department.
To excel in this role, you should
- Be comfortable in being at the front of the classroom to help alongside practical classes.
- Able to create a positive learning environment has good and strong classroom management.
- Able to provide support to learners, as well as your fellow staff members.
- Setting up equipment prior to lessons to meet staff requirements, in a timely manner.
- Be efficient in constructing and modifying apparatus.
- Be confident in taking an active part in demonstrations.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Be confident and enthusiastic with a passion for education.
- Adaptable, flexible, be able to work at short notice and get to schools quickly
- Be able to manage large groups of students, some of whom may display challenging behaviour
- Be able to work on your own initiative.
Requirements:
- Educated to A-level or Degree level is desired
- DBS Certificate on the update service or be able to obtain one
- Two professional references
- Right to work in the UK.
