Choice Teachers are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Leigh to recruit a passionate Personal Development & Ethics (PDE/PHSE) Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is committed to supporting students’ personal, social, moral, and emotional development.

The school delivers a carefully designed, broad, and balanced PDE curriculum across both key stages. The programme is ambitious, age-appropriate, and progressive, supporting learners to become happy, healthy, engaged, and successful citizens.


About the Role

You will deliver engaging and meaningful PDE lessons that encourage students to:

  • Explore world views, ethics, and belief systems

  • Develop resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing

  • Make positive life, learning, and career choices

  • Reflect on values and attitudes in a safe, inclusive environment

The PDE curriculum incorporates two core strands:

Personal Development, including:
PSHE, Citizenship, British Values, Character Education, SMSC, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and CEIAG

Ethics, including:
Religious Education across both key stages


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality PDE/PHSE and Ethics lessons

  • Promote positive mental health and wellbeing

  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Manage behaviour effectively and build positive relationships

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support whole-school values


What We’re Looking For

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, FE qualification, or relevant Degree/A-Level)

  • A genuine passion for Personal Development, Ethics, or PHSE

  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organisational skills

  • The ability to engage and support students with diverse needs


Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – £53.50)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two professional references
