Teacher of Girls’ PE – Purley
Salary: £39,370 – £51,974 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Main Purpose of the Role

To deliver an appropriately broad, balanced and engaging PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students.

To monitor and support the progress and development of students both as a PE teacher and as a form tutor.

To encourage and facilitate a learning environment where every student is motivated to reach their full potential.

To contribute to raising standards of student achievement across the department.

To play an active role in supporting the school’s ethos and commitment to personal and academic growth.
Key Areas of Responsibility

Operational & Strategic Planning: Plan and deliver lessons, develop resources, and contribute to departmental schemes of work.

Curriculum Development: Ensure an inclusive and inspiring PE curriculum for girls at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Staff Development: Participate fully in continuing professional development and performance management.

Quality Assurance: Support the evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning across the department.

Data & Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate records and track student progress effectively.

Communication: Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.

Pastoral Support: Act as a form tutor, supporting the wider wellbeing and development of students.

Teaching & Learning: Provide high-quality, engaging PE lessons that motivate and challenge all learners.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (including teaching practice).

Demonstrate understanding of effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.

Have experience working in multi-ethnic urban schools (desirable) and ideally within an 11–18 setting.

Possess strong knowledge of the National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4.

Be an effective team player with strong communication and organisational skills.

Have sound ICT skills, ideally with experience of using interactive whiteboards and digital resources.

Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all learners.

Have excellent time management and the ability to inspire and raise aspirations.
