Choice Teachers is proud to partner with two outstanding colleges in the Huntingdon and Cambridge area to recruit an experienced Internal Quality Assessor (IQA) for Work-Based Learning in Engineering. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on apprenticeship programmes while working across vibrant, collaborative campuses.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the internal quality assurance (IQA) processes for engineering apprenticeships to maintain high standards and compliance with awarding body requirements.
  • Manage and support Trainer Assessors, setting high expectations for delivery and learner outcomes.
  • Collaborate with employers and college leadership to ensure a first-class experience for learners, driving their progression and success.
  • Oversee all aspects of End Point Assessments (EPA) and liaise with external quality assurance organisations.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusion while upholding college values and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular IQA activities, including observations, sampling, and mentoring of assessors.
  • Develop and maintain robust tracking systems to ensure accurate learner progress and compliance.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development and implement strategies for continuous improvement in apprenticeship delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, ensuring they are engaged and informed throughout the learner journey.
  • Support professional development for assessing staff, ensuring occupational competency is maintained.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 3 vocational qualification in engineering (or equivalent).
  • Level 3 TAQA or Certificate in Assessing Vocational Qualifications (or equivalent).
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
  • Significant experience in assessing and quality assurance within further education or work-based learning.
  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeship standards and health and safety legislation.

Desirable:

  • Leadership and management qualifications.
  • Experience with e-Portfolios and awarding bodies such as EAL.
  • Level 4 Leading Internal Quality Assurance qualification.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Collaborative, motivated, and committed to safeguarding and equality.

Special Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
  • A valid driving license and willingness to travel between campuses and employer sites.
