Salary: £31,569 – £33,430 per annum (pro-rata)
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (22 hours per week)
Annual Leave: 27 days (pro-rata), plus bank holidays

Role Overview

Choice Teachers is seeking a dedicated Internal Quality Assessor – Work Based Learning (Engineering) to support and enhance the quality and compliance of work-based learning programmes in the Cambridge area. This role is ideal for an experienced individual passionate about driving excellence in training and education.

It is absolutely vital that any candidates have several or all of the corresponding qualifications and experince menioned in said section, you will not be considered if these are not present.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Work Based Learning Manager in ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across work-based learning programmes. You will lead IQA strategies, collaborate with stakeholders, manage Trainer Assessors, and act as a liaison between employers, learners, and the College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with college and awarding body standards.
  • Manage a caseload of Trainer Assessors, providing mentoring, support, and training.
  • Develop and monitor learner training plans, ensuring progress toward timely Gateway and End Point Assessments (EPA).
  • Plan and execute internal verification strategies, standardisation meetings, and external quality assurance visits.
  • Act as a point of contact for employers and learners, building positive relationships and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and monitor off-the-job training calculations and tracking for all apprentices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality apprenticeship standards and programmes.
  • Lead on preparation for external quality assurance visits and address any action plans.
  • Ensure robust recording, tracking, and compliance with platforms such as Smart Assessor.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong background in engineering or work-based learning with proven experience in internal quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, EPA processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and e-learning platforms.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Assessing and IQA qualifications.
  • Experience managing Trainer Assessors or similar teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support professional development in colleagues.
