Cover Supervisor – Graduates & Aspiring Teachers | St Helens 

Choice Teachers is recruiting confident graduates and aspiring teachers to work as Cover Supervisors across secondary schools in St Helens. This role is ideal for those considering a future career in teaching and looking to gain valuable classroom experience before starting teacher training.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, deliver pre-set work and develop essential behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.


The Role

In this role, you will:

  • Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during short-term teacher absences

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials provided by the class teacher

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Keep pupils on task and engaged in their learning

  • Gain hands-on experience working within a secondary school environment

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and behaviour

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

Requirements

To be considered, you will need:

  • A degree (any subject) or relevant experience working with young people

  • Confidence supervising groups of students independently

  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach

  • An up-to-date CV covering your full employment history (including any gaps)

  • The right to work in the UK

  • Two professional references

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
