About the Role
Choice Teachers are looking for a dedicated and passionate Carpentry Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to Level 1 learners at a further education college in Hemel Hempstead.
You’ll be working within a well-equipped construction department that offers a supportive and professional environment, helping students develop their confidence, employability, and trade skills for progression into apprenticeships or Level 2 qualifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated carpentry professional to share their knowledge, inspire young learners, and contribute to a hands-on, skills-focused curriculum.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging practical and theory lessons in Carpentry to Level 1 learners.

Plan, prepare, and assess coursework and practical assignments in line with the qualification framework.

Ensure that health and safety standards are always upheld in the workshop.

Provide support and guidance to students to help them reach their full potential.

Contribute to course development, student reviews, and departmental meetings when required.

Promote positive behaviour, attendance, and punctuality among learners.
Requirements

Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in Carpentry or a related discipline.

Previous teaching, instructing, or mentoring experience is highly desirable.

A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) or a willingness to work towards one.

Up-to-date industry knowledge and a genuine passion for sharing skills with young people.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.
